The Nano/MEMS, high performance, wearable, digital dosimeter toxic gas detection instruments developed and manufactured by KWJ Engineering’s Transducer Technology Division will be on exhibit at the American Industrial Hygienists Conference and Exposition (AIHce) at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA from June 3-6, 2007 in Booth #922.
Newark, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2007 — KWJ Engineering, Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of industrial safety equipment involving specialized toxic gas detection, recently merged with Transducer Technology, Inc., to accelerate the use of MEMS and nano-technologies in the gas detection industry. The KWJ/TTI facilities include a new state of the art clean room for sensor manufacture as well as equipment for R&D, custom engineering, manufacture and calibration of complete gas detection systems.
The first product of that merger is the new Pocket series of individual gas detection instruments. Pocket H2S and Pocket CO each weigh less than 1 ounce. Pocket CO is the world’s smallest ACGIH compliant carbon monoxide (CO) dosimeter. The ACGIH compliance standard is the strictest OSHA standard for carbon monoxide exposure in the workplace. The first alarm point is the time weighted average (TWA) maximum exposure of 25 parts per million (PPM) of carbon monoxide. Parts per million by volume is a concentration term that indicates that there is one part CO in one million parts air. Pocket H2S will be available from KWJ Engineering in July.
Chronic health effects have been attributed to low-level carbon monoxide exposures within the range of 10 — 24 PPM. The digital dosimeter, Pocket CO, displays the CO concentration from 5 — 500 ppm, along with total exposure in ppm-hr, maximum exposure during an 8 hour period, time the maximum occurred, and the 8 hr TWA.
