A-273 was designed to test the atmosphere within a gas burner firebox and prevent operation of the igniter if abnormally high gas concentrations are present. Natural gas concentration is displayed and alarmed at two levels, 15% and 25% LEL, of combustible gas. External strobe and buzzer alarm signals are mounted on the top face of a NEMA 12 enclosure.
